How Much Does Audio Equipment Repair Cost

   I know there are several of you out in that location that repair electronics and audio equipment and I know a lot of you accept had your gear worked on..

   I was curious as to what the going rates were.

   I fixed up an older Technics SA-323 unit for a former co-worker and wasn't sure what to charge for the repair labor.

8. Does everyone think that $100 plus parts is a fair basic rate for simple amp/receiver service? Not repair of any serious, difficult problem, but just a basic recap, and maybe troubleshooting of a mutual problem similar hum or weak channel.

9. Audio Ideas in Gainesville, Florida once charged me $60 to tell me they were non authorized to repair my Sony CD histrion/recorder, even though they are an authorized Sony sales and repair centre. 12. I'm not a tech, but based on what I have paid in the past that is probably a flake on the depression side. I use a well-regarded repair shop and my average bill for fairly normal repairs ends upward in the $150-$200 range. I would remember that a basic fee of $fifty or so (applied to repair total) and an hourly fee in the same range would exist very adequate.

13. I don't rightfully know that I could actually charge a reasonable per-hour rate for some of the time I've put into things. I tend to go a bit more than off the deep end with my own equipment though. Correct now I'k trying to sell something that I fixed, and if I effigy in the parts and my time involved, less the $5 I initially paid for information technology I think I'd make about $6 an hr if I go my asking price on it. Sadly, I don't know that anyone will really give me what I'm asking for it since its not exactly a hot ticket item. I probably just don't charge plenty for things.

14. I think if I stock-still it for myself, I can't expect a high hourly rate. I'thousand just bringing it up to fair market value for the same model in comparable shape. I like to go paid but I also similar to work on what I similar to work on. Working on cheap crap is infuriating whether it's a 10 twelvemonth old car or a v.1 environs amp.

    Fixing things for myself, I don't actually expect to recover my time in the form of cash coin in most cases. Some of the stuff I fool with I practise for the technical challenge more any cease goal. The piece I mentioned earlier was a complete basket instance, and if I was looking to make money on it I'd accept pulled the tubes, the ability transformer, and tossed the rest. It was completely inoperable and in horrible cosmetic and electrical shape. For some reason though, I decided to run into if I could get in go just because it was so screwed upward, and I could tell it'due south original design and build was very proficient. I did make information technology get, and it works amazingly well, though information technology took more than a few hours to get it to that indicate. Hell of a tuner though, if you're into ugly and mono.

    I know a few pro repair shops and many that repair more often than not there own stuff but to practice repairs for others. My notes on hourly price run from $35.00 to $125.00 per hour plus parts.

    Yes, Conrad is correct on. When a identify has heavy overhead they need to charge more but they likely accept fashion more test equipment. If its not your staff of life and butter you tin charge enough to make it worth your while.
